The first Seiko watch, known as the Seiko Laurel, was introduced in 1913. At the time, Seiko was still known as K. Hattori & Co., a Japanese company founded by Kintaro Hattori. The Seiko Laurel marked the company’s first step into the world of watchmaking, after previously being known as a manufacturer of wall clocks and timekeeping instruments.
